Four Easy Tips to Enhance Your Business Casual Look

The way you dress can influence the impression you have on others. Looking neat and tidy is crucial as a result. Some people get the simple things wrong, whether it's a poorly tucked shirt or rolling your shirt sleeves badly. Here are a few easy tips that can take your business casual look to the next level. A navy blazer would be a good addition to this look.

1. Streamline your outfit
Streamlining refers to having the seam of your shirt in line with your belt buckle and trouser's button. It's also called the gig line. Having a streamlined outfit can make tucking your shirt in easier.

2. Use the military shirt tuck
As the name suggests this neat shirt tuck method is used by the army. It can keep your shirt tucked in for longer and minimises creases. Dress shirts and shirts with a tail (a longer back than front) are all designed to be tucked in. The military tuck works best on shirts that go three inches past your trousers’ belt hoops.
  1. Tuck the front of your shirt into your unzipped trousers and then zip them up. (Don't button them yet).
  2. Use your thumbs to get rid of any creases going from the front to the back of the shirt.
  3. Pinch the left and right sides of the shirt's seams with your thumb and forefinger. Gently pull the material to the back of the shirt.
  4.  Dimples will be formed as a result of the last step. Tuck the material you have in your hands into your trousers and neaten your shirt out. That’s it. The military fold can be seen above.

3. Master roll your shirt sleeves
It can get annoying constantly rolling your sleeves up. The military roll however will keep your rolled sleeves in place. Here’s how to do it:
  1. Unbutton all your sleeve's buttons.
  2. Fold your shirt cuff back once so that the cuff is just below your elbow. Make sure some excess material is showing.
  3. Take the excess material and fold it above your elbow. Make sure it's evenly folded. The master roll is then complete.

4. Iron central creases into your chinos
A central crease ironed onto the front of your chinos adds more sophistication to your look. It's very easy to do. Set out the ironing board and make sure the iron is on the correct material setting to suit your chinos.
  1. Lay the left chino leg flat on the ironing board.
  2. Pick up the outside of the leg and fold it in half, so that the pocket is facing you.
  3. Iron down the front centre of the leg, starting just below the pockets and end before the seams.
  4. Repeat this process with the other leg.
  5. You should then have two central creases on your chinos.

Use these tips and you'll spend less time adjusting your attire and have more time to enjoy the complements you'll be getting on your attire.
